Teaching Rounds
Well Round one is over and done.
The three weeks went really quick. First two days I just watched, then on day three I jumped into the deep end. It was alot of fun and great practice. I think I would be more relaxed if there was no other teacher in the room, because every time I explained something I wondered what the teacher who was in the room thought. 'Did I explain that well enough?' 'Was my language appropriate?' All that stuff, but if she left the room for any reason, I was relaxed and at ease and didn't second guess myself.
The Good.
The uni sent some guy I'd never meet to come and view my performance and he was very impressed. He said this was his 14th visit this round or something like that and that no-one had done so 'amazingly' in their first round and that if he didn't know my name and that I was the student teacher, he would have thought I was the REAL teacher based on what he saw in my classroom. The other girl from my uni who did her round there, didn't get as good a rap sheet from this guy, but you'll see that doesn't always matter.
The Bad.
Getting told by a year 8 that he was going to smash me and he was going to kill me. There was also a day where another year 8 kid said fu** off you Fu**ing c**t! There were other various incidences of young and childish behaviour. Didn't really bother me that much, didn't scare me at all either, just wanted to punch the little shits but well, you're not allowed to do that! I probably would have gotten away with it at that school though!
The UGLY!
I got my supervising teacher some nice gifts because I thought that it was the right thing to do. She was really really nice for the whole of the three weeks, but then when I gave her the presents, she didn't open them in front of me or at all she just said thanks and put them in her bag.... very rude in my book. Then the really ugly part....... she tells me the whole time how well I'm doing and how I'm going to breeze this assessment in and blah blah blah blowing smoke up my arse for three weeks, then, she gives me my mark and comments that she is going to post off to uni for about one minute to look over while she packs her bag and then goes 'ok well I'm off to adelaide for easter.' And I'm like 'okay nice to know ya see ya later.' And the mark was not what I was expecting or what I deserved. I am going to make a damn fine teacher and I know that cause I've had teachers tell me that and the uni marker told me that!

Oh Natty, please don't worry about her. You are going to be an awesome teacher and she doesn't know what she is on about.
And I can't believe she didn't open your present. I think thats rude to. the same thing happened to me last week when i gave the girl I sit next to at work a "goodbye" present because she is going to egypt for 5 weeks, and she just put it in her bag and said "thanks."
mmmmmmmmmm I didn't like that one little bit.
